What Is START CARE Asthma Study for Children?
New Zealand has one of the highest rates of asthma in the world, with one-in-seven children/tamariki taking asthma medication. Sadly, it is also one of the most common causes of hospitalisation in children/tamariki, with Māori and Pacific Island children/tamariki up to three times more likely to be admitted than other ethnic groups.
As part of a New Zealand based research study, we are looking for children/tamariki with asthma to compare two different ways of treating asthma, to improve the way we manage childhood asthma care in NZ and worldwide.
What Is Clinical Research?
Clinical research is the process of developing potential treatments for diseases. Medicines must pass through clinical trials to ensure their safety and effectiveness.
